An update has emerged about why The Young Bucks missed some recent editions of AEW Dynamite.
This week’s AEW World Tag Team match between The Young Bucks and The Acclaimed was Matt and Nick Jackson’s first appearance since Blood and Guts on July 24, and was also their first defence since winning the championships in April. Now, an update has emerged on their recent absence from TV and whether or not it is linked to having a limited number of dates on their contract.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that The Young Bucks’ recent absence was planned months in advance and isn’t due to them running low on appearances for the company. However, it’s noted that the pair do have less dates on their new deal.
“The new contract they are on calls for fewer dates than the prior contract and that was part of it as well in the sense of making sure they aren’t on some shows as to eat up too many dates. It’s not like they ran through all of their dates or anything like that. It was time off agreed to months ago. Given the number of dates left, they won’t be on every Wednesday show between now and the end of December, but will be there most weeks.”

It was mentioned that their absence was also there to sell the effects of the Blood and Guts match.
As of yet, The Young Bucks’ next title defence remains unclear, with both FTR and The Acclaimed gunning for the opportunity to battle for the championships at Wembley Stadium.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on The Young Bucks’ recent absence and their contracted dates as soon as we hear more.
