Tommaso Ciampa Explains Why He Left WWE For AEW

Tommaso Ciampa is loving his time with AEW thus far.

Former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa made his All Elite Wrestling debut during the January 28 edition of AEW Dynamite. Ciampa had announced just one week earlier that he would not be renewing his contract with WWE, bringing his ten year spell with the promotion to an end.

During a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest, Tommaso Ciampa opened up about how much he has been enjoying his time with All Elite Wrestling thus far.

“So far, I like [AEW] a lot. I love the start. There’s a lot of fun things I have in the works and ways to evolve the character. Just gotta be patient and let that all play out but, we’re on to some good stuff. There’s some really cool plans in the works, — I’m hoping that I get to ride into the sunset with AEW, to be honest with you. I really like it there. They treat my family extremely well and my little one is having a blast, and if you’re a parent, I think you can relate to how important that is… I think where I’m at in my life and what I want aligns very well with what AEW is and was offering.”

Tommaso Ciampa defeated Mark Briscoe during the January 31 edition of AEW Collision to capture the AEW TNT Championship in his first match for All Elite Wrestling, though he would lose the title to Kyle Fletcher just eleven days later.

Since then, Tommaso Ciampa has turned heel on Mark Briscoe by attacking him during the March 7 episode of AEW Collision after the fellow former TNT Champion accidentally cost him a match against Daniel Garcia.
