Progress has reportedly been made over who can perform at Forbidden Door.

As of writing, Forbidden Door is a little over three weeks away, and this year’s iteration of the show is set to feature wrestlers from STARDOM and CMLL. The Mexican company have been working with AEW since the turn of the year, but there were previously concerns over their involvement at this year’s crossover event due to potential conflict over stars associated with rival promotion AAA appearing on the show. However, this now doesn’t seem to be as much of a roadblock for 2024’s event.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, it’s believed that talent like RUSH and Rey Fenix will have clearance to appear on this year’s Forbidden Door, with CMLL now said to be less stubborn over who can appear.

“Yeah, Tony Khan said they have pretty much worked it out. That means that Forbidden Door, RUSH, and Fenix, and all these guys can appear on the show. Money talks I guess. And after a while you get relationships and you know, he’s really been a good partner for New Japan, he’s trying to be a good partner for CMLL. & I guess CMLL got less stubborn as they are trying to expose their guys in this Country. It makes more sense for them, CMLL guys are getting more and more work in this Country and there’s even talk on CMLL trying to do shows in this Country”

-Dave Meltzer

This will come as good news to those hoping to see AAA associated wrestlers take part in the crossover show, particularly as it provides talent with the opportunity to mix it up with opponents that they may not otherwise get the chance to wrestle.

Currently, the Forbidden Door is set to feature Will Ospreay vs Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship, Toni Storm vs Mina Shirakawa for the Women’s World Title and a four-way ladder match to determine a new TNT Champion.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on who can perform at Forbidden Door as soon as we hear more.
