AEW President Tony Khan has provided his take on their ticket sales for Collision in Canada.
This upcoming Saturday will see the debut of AEW Collision, a new two-hour wrestling show airing weekly on TNT, featuring the likes of CM Punk, Thunder Rosa, Miro, and Andrade el Idolo amongst others.
Many fans have pointed out that the ticket sales for the shows that have been announced thus far, particularly across Canada, haven’t performed as well as first expected. Speaking to John Pollock and Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling & Wrestlenomics, AEW President Tony Khan addressed these ticket sales numbers, noting that fans don’t fully know what to expect from the brand just yet.
Khan also pointed out, however, that the ticket sales for Chicago have performed well, and thus, the future of Collision looks promising.
“I think really with these Collision events, people don’t know what to expect. We’ve got really strong number for the show in Chicago that’s going to turn out to be one of the biggest TV’s we’ve done all year for the United Centre Collision debut Saturday night this weekend. I think that bodes very well for the future. I know the show in Newark for the first show back from Canada is also doing well. I’m excited to see what happens with our tour in Canada for both Dynamite and Collision. I think these Canadian fans, Collision of course, as you mentioned, will be streaming through TSN, I’m excited about that. I do think we have a great chance to promote these events coming up, not just on Dynamite, but also by adding a great debut for Collision to build a lot of buzz for the upcoming episodes. I also think we can build some anticipation for the Owen Hart Cup Matches which will be taking place, and a lot of those will be on Collision also.”
-Tony Khan
The aforementioned debut episode of AEW Collision will be emanating from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, with the main event pitting the returning CM Punk and FTR against the team of Bullet Club Gold and Samoa Joe.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on AEW Collision’s ticket sales as soon as we hear more.
