Tony Khan’s Base 10 Reportedly Bid To Acquire WWE In 2023

AEW Owner Tony Khan reportedly made a bid to buy WWE in 2023.
At the beginning of 2023, Vince McMahon returned to WWE as executive chairman with the aim to force through a sale of the company. When it came down to it, there were four bidders vying to take over the world’s largest wrestling organisation, with three of them being known to the public for some time. However, the surprising fourth bidder has now been revealed, and it would’ve turned the landscape on its head.
According to an update from Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling, it’s believed AEW Owner Tony Khan’s Base 10 bid for WWE in 2023.
“Base 10, a company backed by AEW owner Tony Khan, placed a bid on WWE when it was up for sale in 2023, according to court filings.”

The report notes that Base 10 offered approximately $6.9 million. In the end, it was Endeavour’s $8.5 million that won the day, meaning Khan’s proposal fell around $1.5 million short of the winning bid. The sale led to the formation of the TKO Group, a company which brought WWE and UFC under the same umbrella.
As of writing, it’s unclear whether Base 10’s link to Tony Khan or AEW had any effect on the bid being unsuccessful, or if it was purely based on financial value. Still, the scenario remains an interesting ‘what if’ for wrestling fans to discuss for years to come.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Base 10’s 2023 bid for WWE as soon as we hear more.
