Trick Williams gives his take on John Cena being the WrestleMania host.

On March 30, it was revealed that John Cena will be the official host of WrestleMania 42. The announcement came just over three months after the 17-time champion officially retired from in-ring competition, with this being the first time he will have appeared in front of a WWE crowd since hanging up his boots. Now, a current SmackDown star has offered his opinion on Cena being back on our screens.

Speaking on Unsportsmanlike, Trick Williams said he’s glad John Cena is back.

“I guess retirement is hard sometimes, you know what I mean? We’re glad that he’s gonna be back and we know that everybody loves John Cena, so I’m glad he’s back. We’re gonna have a good time. It means a lot to us.”

Despite becoming a member of the SmackDown roster as recently as January, Trick Williams’ WrestleMania debut will see him challenge for gold. After Sami Zayn’s United States Championship victory over Carmelo Hayes this past week on SmackDown, Williams will have the first shot at the new champion when the ‘Show Of Shows’ rolls around.

After the title change, many have been wondering what’s next for the former champion Carmelo Hayes. With some hoping he could join Williams and Zayn in a triple threat, Trick recently expressed his desire to see his former tag team partner have a WrestleMania moment. You can read more about that here.

As for why Cena was brought in to be the host, a recent report has linked the announcement to WWE’s current ticket sales. You can read more on the company’s decision to bring Cena in for WrestleMania here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on John Cena being the WrestleMania host as soon as we hear more.
