The TNA World Champion has revealed a huge match he wants to make happen.
At NXT Battleground in May, Trick Williams defeated Joe Hendry to win the TNA World Championship. So far, the 31-year-old has made three successful defences of the gold, overcoming Mike Santana, Elijah and Josh Briggs and he’s now set his sights on one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time.
In an interview with Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Trick Williams revealed that he’s keen to step into the ring with AJ Styles after the crowd in Atlanta said ‘The Phenomenal One’ is the greatest TNA Champion in history.
“I want AJ Styles. I told Atlanta that I’m the greatest TNA Champion of all time, and the audacity of that crowd to turn and say ‘AJ Styles’? Completely disrespectful. There’s only one way to get to the bottom of this. Gimme AJ Styles. Let me prove myself. Let me show everybody how legit Trick Williams is. That’s the one I want. Trick Williams versus AJ Styles.”

Styles is a former two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion but hasn’t wrestled for the company since departing over a decade ago. As of yet, there’s been no indication that WWE are looking to set up a match between AJ and Trick Williams, though whether it happens down the line remains to be seen, particularly after TNA President Carlos Silva seemingly teased that Slammiversary will be ‘Phenomenal’.
