Sasha Banks, along with her former tag-team partner Naomi, have both been absent from WWE TV since the May 16th episode of Raw, where the then-WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions reportedly walked out before their scheduled main event, resulting in them both being “indefinitely suspended”.

Since then, various sources have indicated that pair have been released by WWE, although the company are yet to provide official confirmation. Yesterday saw Banks announced for C2E2, marking her first meet and greet appearance since recieving her suspension, and Fightful Select have now provided an interesting update on hee situation following said announcement.

The report first notes that multiple wrestling conventions have now reached out to Banks, all of whom noted that these appearances have only recently become a possibility, potentially leaning into reports of her receiving her release. Additionally, it was stated that organisers were given a firm, specific rate by Banks’ reps in order to secure her services.

Fightful then provide an update on Banks potentially accepting bookings to return to the ring, although it appears that those hoping to see Mercedes Varnado back in action may have to be patient.

“Wrestling-related promoters that attempted to book her were told that she was only taking non-wrestling related bookings until January 1.”

It was then noted by Fightful that whilst WWE are yet to confirm Sasha Banks’ release, one promoter they reached out to said that they “can’t imagine her not being released at this point.“. Talent are also said to be under the same impression, although as previously mentioned, no official confirmation has been provided as of writing.

Fightful ended the report by stating that they’re currently unaware as to whether Banks waiting for January 1st, 2023, to accept wrestling related booking is a personal preference or due to a contractual obligation.

We certainly look forward to eventually seeing Mercedes Varnado back insude the ring, and as always, we’ll aim to provide any updates regarding this developing situation as soon as possible.
