All Elite Wrestling is believed to be a ‘leading candidate’ for Will Ospreay’s next move, though WWE are also high on signing him.

Will Ospreay will soon have to decide on his next destination in terms of his wrestling future. It’s no secret that the 30-year-old Brit’s current deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling will expire around the turn of the year, with it believed that he will become a free agent in February, and many of the top companies in the world will have to battle it out for his signature.

The current IWGP United Kingdom Champion is regarded by many perhaps the best wrestler in the world today and his catalogue of high-quality work has attracted interest from the two biggest promotions in America. To expand on what the options are currently looking like for Ospreay, Dave Meltzer has written in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW is a ‘leading candidate’ for Will, though, WWE can’t be counted out yet as they too are high on potentially bringing the Aerial Assassin in.

I know a lot of people expect AEW and AEW certainly would be one of the leading candidates, he’s in a position now where he’s looking to secure his family and WWE and AEW are the two best places for that. I would never rule out WWE right now in that conversation, but also figure Tony Khan will want him badly so wouldn’t figure him out either. There are people in WWE obviously very high on him and there has been talk.”

Of course, we don’t yet have any indication as to where viewers will see Ospreay pop up once his NJPW contract expires at the start of next year. February will see the end of a seven-year spell for Will as a member of the New Japan roster, leaving with reigns with the IWGP World Heavyweight, Junior Heavyweight and NEVER Openweight Championships under his belt.

He last competed at Impact’s Bound For Glory event last weekend, where he defeated Mike Bailey in a critically acclaimed match-up, a company which Will has gone on record to say he enjoyed working for.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Will Ospreay and his wrestling future as we hear more.
