An update has emerged on the WWE status of Hikuleo.
Back in July, it first emerged that Hikuleo had signed with WWE, with an update in September indicating that he’d been added to NXT’s internal roster. However, since then, there’s been no sign of him on WWE TV and an update has now emerged on his status.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that WWE have made the decision to not use Hikuleo on NXT at this time, with the 34-year-old still training in Orlando.
We keep getting asked about Hikuleo. He is under contract and has been training in Orlando. The decision has simply been made not to use him in NXT at this time.
-Dave Meltzer
At present, it’s unknown whether WWE’s decision to keep Hikuleo off NXT is a permanent one, but Meltzer likens the situation to that of Braun Strowman who wasn’t featured much on the development brand but was saved for an impactful main roster debut. When and how the WWE audience are introduced to the former IWGP Tag Team Champion remains to be seen.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Hikuleo’s WWE status as soon as we hear more.
