Kiana James interferes as the official is distracted, allowing Lash Legend to secure the pinfall victory. Legend is headed to NXT Deadline.
Several tag teams are backstage debating who should get the best shot at the NXT Tag Team Titles. Tony D and Stacks come into the room and say they won’t be at NXT next week because they will be celebrating with the family. A brawl breaks out between the other teams.
Lyra Valkyria is doing some film study backstage when she receives an invite to a warrior’s tea party from her upcoming opponent, Xia Lee.
Warrior’s Tea Ceremony
Xia Lee tells Lyra Valkyria that the tea ceremony is a sign of respect. She then performs a ceremony with the tea leaves, explaining what she plans to do to Lyra next week. Lyra refuses to drink the tea. The two stand face to face and Lyra eventually walks away.
Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. Trick tells her that last week when he punched Melo, it was an accident. Melo says that the lie detector proved that he was telling the truth about not attacking Trick two weeks ago. The two say they squashed their beef and agree that they are back on the same page.
Kiana James is in the women’s locker room bragging about screwing over Roxanne Perez. Gigi Dolin calls her out, causing her to leave. Arianna Grace then begins to speak but Gigi Dolin interrupts and challenges her to a match.
We then see Bron Breakker getting interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. He says he doesn’t regret what he did to Mr. Stone but he is quickly interrupted by Dijak. Dijak tells him that he is the one that can break Bron. Bron tells him to stay out of his way or he will be begging for “retribution.” Good rib.
Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifying Match: Trick Williams Defeats Joe Coffey
This was a solid match. It looked for a minute like Melo might have accidentally cost Trick this match, but Williams is able to rebound by hitting a surprise knee strike and wins the match by pinfall.
We then head backstage where Wes Lee runs into Ilja Dragunov. Lee says that he needed the time off but he is back and ready to get back on track, starting with Corbin. Dragunov says he will get a closer look tonight, and Lee says Dragunov should be wary of all potential challengers for his NXT title.
In the locker room, Baron Corbin and Lexis King meet for the first time. Baron credits King for taking out Trick Williams and making a name for himself. Baron asks him how he got away with it, but Lexis balks. He tells Baron he will be watching him in tonight’s main event.
The Brawling Brutes (Butch & Ridge Holland) Defeat Bronco Nima & Lucienne Price
This was a solid, stiff match. After some good back and forth, this one ends with Ridge Holland and Butch winning by pinfall.
We get another cryptic Joe Gacy promo, this one from the rooftop. Gacy says that he has been wandering aimlessly trying to find his purpose. He says NXT is where things begin and end and it’s also where he “lets go.”
Gigi Dolin Defeats Arianna Grace
Grace almost wins with her feet on the ropes as she had Dolin rolled up, but the official catches her. This allows Gigi to hit a big kick and she wins the match by pinfall.
We then see a video package covering the friendship between Robert Stone and Von Wagner and everything that has happened as of late between the two and Bron Breakker. Afterwards, the two are backstage together having watched the package together. They continue to reminisce until Stone invites Wagner to dinner. Wagner accepts the invite and is excited about the pasta Stone’s wife is going to cook.
McKenzie Mitchell interviews Eddy Thorpe. McKenzie asks Eddy where he has been. He tells her the match with Dijak was the reason he needed time off. He says he is back to 100 percent and plans on qualifying for the Iron Survivor Challenge. Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne and Drew Gulak interrupt and tell him that he isn’t ready to get stretched like they can stretch him.
We then head to the parking lot where several cameras and reporters are waiting for Andre Chase. As they crowd around him, Jacy Jayne pulls up and tells him to get into the car. The two drive away.
Main Event: Baron Corbin Defeats Wes Lee
Dirty Dom came down to ringside at the end of this match causing enough of a distraction that Baron is able to hit the end of days and secure the pinfall victory.
After the match, Corbin continues to attack Lee, but Ilja Dragunov comes out to make the save. Corbin is able to take advantage however, and hits an end of days on Ilja as well. Ilja grabs the microphone and tells Baron that he made a mistake and will have to live with the consequences. He then says that Baron can have his title match at NXT Deadline.
Final Thoughts
I felt like a lot of tonight’s segments fell flat, although the show still had some really strong moments. The TrickMelo storyline continues to be one of the more intriuging things going on in wrestling right now.
