NXT talent are reportedly nervous for their future after Damon Kemp’s departure.

On July 8th, Bobby Steveson, better known as Damon Kemp, took to X to confirm that he is no longer with WWE. Kemp was a regular on NXT as a member of the No Quarter Catch Crew and is also the real-life brother of Olympic gold medalist and ex-WWE signee Gable Steveson.

In today’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that Kemp’s WWE departure was down to the company opting not to renew his deal, thus allowing him to enter free agency.

“Damon Kemp’s WWE departure was a contract expiration and decision not to renew, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.”

Additionally, Meltzer shared an insight into the feeling amongst the NXT locker room after the news was confirmed, noting that some talent are nervous about who else could potentially be cut considering Kemp’s in-ring talent relative to his experience and his consistent onscreen usage.

“The Bobby Steveson cut has led to a lot of nervousness in NXT among those whose contracts are coming due, because unlike other cuts like Dijak (main roster contract), Gable Steveson (huge contract and didn’t show much) and Gulak (the Rousey situation and other things that came up), Bobby Steveson was good in the ring for his level of experience and nobody had anything negative to say. So except for those who are clearly being pushed as future stars, many others do have the deal of if they would cut him, who else would they cut”

This past Tuesday’s episode of NXT saw Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne, & Tavion Heights of the No Quarter Catch Crew write Kemp off of television, bringing his WWE career to a close for now.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Bobby Steveson as soon as we hear more.
