WWE reportedly doesn’t have any interest in bringing back Alberto Del Rio.
On July 25, Alberto Del Rio, known outside WWE as Alberto El Patron, lost a match to El Mesias meaning he had to leave AAA. From there, speculation grew about where fans may see the 48-year-old next, with some wondering whether a return to WWE could be on the cards given their acquisition of the Mexican promotion back in April. Of course, any comeback for Del Rio would likely be met with strong pushback from many viewers, but it now seems like WWE aren’t interested in reuniting with the former World Heavyweight Champion.
Per Fightful Select, it’s believed that, while WWE believe that Del Rio is done with AAA, they have no plans to have him return.
“Sources within WWE claim to us that there is no plan for Del Rio in WWE, and say that they believe Del Rio is legitimately done in AAA. They believe he will make efforts to return to both companies.”

Alberto himself has indicated that WWE may be interested in him, and he did sign a contract with the company after their purchase of AAA, but it doesn’t seem as if he’s set to return in the near future. Notably, despite their ownership of the Mexican company, WWE have made an effort to not feature Del Rio in promotional material over the last few months.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on WWE’s stance on Alberto Del Rio as soon as we hear more.
