‘The Rebel’ could be heading to Orlando, Florida.

On December 27, Fightful Select reported that David Finlay’s contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling is set to expire in the near future, with the former IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion looking to explore his options in the United States.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE have discussed the possibility of signing David Finlay, and while no negotiations have taken place yet, there is interest in bringing him to NXT.

David Finlay has been discussed as a possibility within WWE. When Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reached out, we were told that negotiations haven’t happened between the two sides, but that he was discussed within WWE. Wrestlevotes heard that NXT has interest in bringing him in.

The report also notes that Finlay is aiming to spend more time in the United States in 2026, though he still has commitments to NJPW, who are hoping to retain his services.

David Finlay became leader of Bullet Club in May 2023 following the departure of Jay White, although the January 5 edition of New Year Dash after Wrestle Kingdom 20 appears to have brought an end to the influential faction, with new IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji announcing his new group, Unbound Co., alongside members of Bullet Club War Dogs and the previously unaffiliated former Los Ingobernables de Japon members.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of David Finlay as soon as we hear more.
