TJP could be set for a guest coach role at the WWE PC.
In April, Fightful Select reported that former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion TJP had declined a new contract offer from New Japan Pro Wrestling. While he continued representing United Empire as a freelancer after his deal expired, it now seems a return to WWE could be on the horizon.
According to PWInsider Elite, TJP’s name made the rounds at last night’s NXT vs. TNA Showdown as a potential guest coach at WWE’s Performance Center later this month.
“The word at WWE NXT last night was that WWE was looking at bringing in TJP to the Performance Center as a guest coach later this month.”

Competing initially as T.J. Perkins, he became the inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Champion in 2016 by defeating Gran Metalik in the final of the Cruiserweight Classic. Following his WWE release in 2019, he returned to promotions such as NJPW, Impact Wrestling, MLW, and CMLL.
TJP currently holds one half of the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championships alongside his United Empire stablemate Templario. Recent reports suggest, however, that New Japan are scaling back their US schedule due to declining attendance and talent reluctance to travel. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on WWE bringing in TJP as a guest coach at the Performance Center as soon as we hear more.
