WWE look to be patiently awaiting Fenix’s arrival.
Rey Fenix has yet to appear on AEW television since his win over Tony Nese on the July 20th episode of Collision last year, with it being well documented that he intended to head to WWE alongside his brother Penta prior to AEW reportedly extending his contract due to injury time.
In today’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE are making plans for Rey Fenix despite still being under contract with All Elite Wrestling.
“They are making plans for Rey Fenix although there has been no confirmation Fenix has been released from his AEW contract.”

In recent months, Fenix has taken to social media to address his ongoing contract situation, with one cryptic tweet reading: “No one stays in a place where they received inhumane treatment.”
Meanwhile, Fenix’s brother Penta has made a good start to life in WWE and was this year’s “Iron Man” in the Men’s Royal Rumble.
On top of a short reign as AEW International Champion, Fenix is a former AEW World Tag Team Champion alongside Penta with the pair also having a reign as AEW World Trios Champions under their belts alongside PAC as Death Triangle, and thus with plans in place for Fenix’s eventual WWE arrival, it’s likely that a Lucha Bros reunion will be on the cards.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Rey Fenix as soon as we hear more.
