Roman Reigns vs Bron Breakker was reportedly always the plan.

On the July 14 edition of RAW, Roman Reigns came face to face with Bron Breakker, with it seeming as if the pair are set to clash at SummerSlam. Following this interaction, many fans suggested that Breakker was being elevated into the position which would’ve been afforded to Seth Rollins had he not gotten injured at Saturday Night’s Main Event, however it now appears as if that isn’t the case.

Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that Reigns vs Breakker was on a version of the SummerSlam card from three weeks ago, meaning it was the plan prior to Rollins’ injury.

“A proposed card for the show from nearly three weeks ago listed Reigns vs. Bron Breakker, the same match (or a tag with Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Breakker & Bronson Reed) that they did the angle for on Raw. Uso and Reed were at one point earmarked for a singles match on that show. Based on that planned card, that promo was a distraction and the Breakker direction was always planned.”

With Breakker being gradually elevated up the card within the last year, many are excited to see him continue to progress and a match with Reigns in any capacity would certainly be a great next step for the 27-year-old.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on WWE’s plans for SummerSlam 2025 as soon as we hear more.
