The former NXT Champion is tipped for big things in WWE.

After an impressive performance against Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, WWE has begun airing vignettes teasing Oba Femi’s arrival on the main roster, and it appears the company holds ‘The Ruler’ in very high regard.

Writing in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that senior figures in WWE regard Oba Femi as the standout performer among the recent group of NXT call ups, which also includes Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans.

“Those who have worked with Femi have nothing but great things to say about him and I know those in high places in WWE who think he’s going to be the biggest major player of all, even ahead of Williams and Evans.”

Oba Femi defeated TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater at NXT: New Year’s Evil on January 6 to retain the NXT Championship, although WWE has since confirmed that he has vacated the title ahead of his expected move to the main roster.

With several key decision makers apparently backing him, it is no surprise to hear that Oba Femi is reportedly being lined up for a prominent role at WrestleMania 42. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Oba Femi as soon as we hear more.
