WWE haven’t yet secured Sylvester Stallone’s involvement at WrestleMania 40, according to reports.

Earlier this week, WrestleVotes broke the news that WWE were interested in collaborating with Sylvester Stallone at WrestleMania 40 this April. It was noted that the communication status was unclear and that nothing was confirmed as to whether we could see Stallone play a role on the Grandest Stage of Them All in just over six weeks time.

To provide an update on this, Dave Meltzer has written in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that, despite interest from WWE’s side, the company haven’t yet been able to secure Stallone for WrestleMania 40 due to a potential schedule conflict.

“Wrestlevotes reported that WWE was talking to Sylvester Stallone about [being involved with] WrestleMania this year, since the character of Rocky Balboa was based in Philadelphia. Those at WWE have confirmed the talk but said that as of earlier in the week Stallone had said there was a schedule conflict so the deal hasn’t been done unless you can or wants to remove the conflict.”

It’s unknown how WWE would use Sylvester Stallone should they secure him for ‘Mania, but his role would almost certainly play off the Rocky series of films which are known for being set in WrestleMania 40’s host city of Philadelphia.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Sylvester Stallone’s possible involvement at WrestleMania 40 as soon as we hear more.
