The Attitude Era’s biggest stars aren’t a lock for WrestleMania 43 just yet.

On September 10th, hours before the official announcement of WrestleMania 43 taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2027, Dave Meltzer reported within the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that The Rock is in advanced negotiations to feature at the event, whilst there had also been talks about involvement from Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Regarding said reports, Fightful Select noted that neither WWE Hall of Famer has been approached regarding competing in a match at the show as of yet, with talks of The Rock being paid a record sum labelled an assumption.

“A higher up that Fightful Select spoke with said that any talk of who will or won’t perform on the show is purely hypothetical at this point. They also sent us a link of a report claiming the Rock would be paid more than any pro wrestler for an event, and said that hadn’t even been broached, much less negotiated, and said that it’s a fair assumption, but just an assumption. We’re told that the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Rock have not yet been approached for potential matches over a year and a half down the line.”

Nevertheless, both WWE and Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority are likely to push for as many big-name stars as possible to feature at WrestleMania 43, with WWE Hall of Famer’s such as Triple H, The Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels being present at the press conference, on top of a host of modern day stars, including Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, Logan Paul, and many more.

Elsewhere within the report, Fightful Select revealed that Saudi Arabia requesting they host WrestleMania 43 itself as opposed to a “WrestleMania branded” event led to WWE promoting Wrestlepalooza as heavily as they have. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on plans for WrestleMania 43 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as soon as we hear more.
