The WWE Superstar and TNA legend is expected to be part of the show this Sunday.
On Wednesday, Fightful Select reported that teases by TNA President Carlos Silva indicating the show would be “phenomenal” lined up with a potential AJ Styles appearance, with a source noting that Styles not appearing at this stage would be misleading.
The Takedown on SI have now corroborated said report, noting that the potential appearance is one that TNA management has had as a top priority for some time.
“The Takedown has learned that a potential Styles appearance at Slammiversary has been in the works for some time now and was a top priority for the upper brass within TNA. The expectation among several members of the roster is that he will indeed be at UBS Arena for Slammiversary in some capacity.”

Additionally, the report adds that despite the lack of indication as to Styles’ role at the show, multiple sources expressed optimism that he would set up a future match for the company as part of the partnership between WWE and TNA.
Styles last competed inside a TNA ring back on December 5, 2013, where he lost a TNA World Championship match to current SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis.
TNA Slammiversary takes place this Sunday at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, with NXT Superstar Trick Williams set to defend the TNA World Championship against both Joe Hendry and Mike Santana, whilst Masha Slamovich and Jacy Jayne compete for both the TNA Knockouts World Championship and the NXT Women’s Championship.
The Takedown on SI were unsuccessful in their request for an official comment from TNA President Carlos Silva before press time, but as always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates as soon as we hear more.
