Zack Ryder has discussed his WWE future.
On last night’s episode of SmackDown, LA Knight had a mystery opponent as part of ‘The Last Time Is Now’ tournament to determine John Cena’s final opponent. To many people’s surprise, it was Zack Ryder who answered the call, marking his first appearance on the company’s main roster in over five years and leading fans to wonder whether ‘The Broski’ was fully back with WWE. Now, Ryder has commented on his future in the wake of his return.
On WWE’s YouTube channel, Zack Ryder discussed always wanting to make it back to WWE, though it sounds as if he’s not tied down to a long-term deal with the company moving forward.
“Five years. It’s been five years since I put on Zack Ryder boots. Every single morning, the first thing I do, before I even open my damn eyes, is say, ‘How can I get back here? What do I have to do to get back here?’ I busted my ass for the past five years — Deathmatch King, Indy God, all for this moment. This might be a one time shot. I might get the call tomorrow. It doesn’t matter, because I’m Zack Ryder. I’m always ready, and I guess I can say this — woo, woo, woo. You know it.”

Ryder’s most recent match for the company prior to last night came on March 9, 2020, losing to Bobby Lashley in under two minutes on Monday Night RAW. Since then, he’s worked for promotions like IMPACT, GCW and AEW, with many fans consistently speculating over a WWE return. For now, after his loss to ‘The Megastar’ on SmackDown, it remains to be seen whether his appearance will turn into another full-time run on the main roster.
