Over the past few weeks, several reports have indicated that William Regal would be leaving AEW and returning to WWE in a backstage capacity, reports that were seemingly confirmed when the former Blackpool Combat Club manager was written off TV following an attack from MJF.

PWInsider have now shed more light on Regal’s return to WWE, revealing that he’s set to begin in his new role as a Vice President in January.

“WWE sources have confirmed William Regal has officially come to terms on his new position with the company and will start the first week of January. We are told Regal will have a Vice President position in the company when he returns, but we have not heard what his official title/role will be.”

Regal previously served as WWE’s Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting before his release earlier this year, after which he joined AEW where he led Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta as the Blackpool Combat Club.

Prior to the aforementioned release, Regal was one of Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque’s closest allies backstage, and thus it’s no surprise that he’ll be returning to a prominent position of power next month.
