Almost one full year ago, Cody Rhodes made his shocking return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, defeating Seth Rollins after being revealed as his mystery opponent. Rhodes has previously served as an Executive Vice President for All Elite Wrestling, a company founded by Rhodes, The Elite, and current President Tony Khan following the success of the All In back in September of 2018.
Speaking to AP News ahead of his WrestleMania 39 main event with Roman Reigns, Rhodes compared his WWE return to pushing forward with All In, labelling it a far bigger gamble than the one he and The Elite took back in 2018.
“Life is splendid. When I left my former gig to come back to WWE, it was a far bigger gamble than “All In” (the first AEW show in 2019) ever was. That’s why I get these “All In” vibes when I think about WrestleMania because I certainly could have been the laughingstock of the industry. And going into the biggest event ever involved in the wrestling ring from any measurable standpoint is one part of life being great, blessed and lucky.”

Rhodes also highlighted the importance of proving to his family that the gamble was worth it, noting that his current run is all the worth it knowing that his family have seen the sacrifices he’s made to get there.
“The other part is I have my family in terms of Brandi (his wife) and Liberty (his daughter), for them to come to this and experience this knowing that it wasn’t a life wasted. Every sacrifice I’ve made, early morning gym trip, times I wasn’t able to be home or won’t be able to be home, it’s not a life wasted in what we do and that makes this run just all the sweetest.”

As previously stated, Rhodes is set to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, California on April 2nd.
Tonight’s episode of Raw will see Rhodes take on The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa, in a match that will likely bring the ‘American Nightmare’ one step closing to finally getting his hands on the ‘Tribal Chief’.
