Following Fightful Select‘s report yesterday revealing that Zack Gibson/Rip Fowler and James Drake/Jagger Reid of the Grizzled Young Veterans/The Dyad had requested their WWE releases, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the pair’s request had been granted.
However, during the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer provided an update on the situation, with the status of the former NXT UK Tag Team Champions now seeming uncertain.
“That’s up in the air now. They were telling people that they got the release. I actually heard from someone this morning in WWE and it was, ‘Yeah, they’re gone’, and then later in the day, it was like, ‘I don’t think they got the release’. They told people they did, but I got the impression that it’s not necessarily the case, as far as getting the release. So we will have to wait and see for the next couple of days how this all plays out. But I don’t think ‘officially officially’. They may have, but it was kind of indicated to me that maybe it wasn’t as official as they thought and everyone down there thought.”

The pair recently competed alongside their Schism stablemates Joe Gacy and Ava Raine on the pre-show for NXT Stand & Deliver in a losing effort to Chase University and Tyler Bate.
As of writing, neither member of the Grizzled Young Vets have publicly commented on their reported release request, however as always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates as soon as we hear more.
