Hiroshi Tanahashi has high hopes for his future this summer.
Known as ‘The Ace’ of New Japan Pro Wrestling, Hiroshi Tanahashi is undoubtedly an icon of the industry. This Sunday at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, the Japanese legend will step into the ring with MJF in an attempt to win the AEW World Championship, having failed to capture the then-vacant title this time last year.
Speaking to Tokyo Sports, Tanahashi has discussed his upcoming title match, claiming that he will win the AEW gold, come out on top during this year’s G1 Climax and then become the first Japanese wrestler to main event Wembley Stadium.
“My Wembley debut is coming soon. I will prove that I am the first Japanese to win a title match and main event at Wembley in 100 years. I haven’t left my name in the history books yet, so I will start from here. Winning the belt in the U.S., winning the G1, and the main event at Wembley. It’s all set up nicely. It’s Mr. Blueprint,”

Tanahashi’s bid to win the G1 will begin when the tournament commences on July 15. As for his Wembley plans, the star aims to main event when AEW make their London debut at the famous stadium on August 27.
