Amid reports of KENTA no longer being CM Punk’s planned Forbidden Door opponent, some new pitched opponents have been revealed.
This Sunday will see AEW and NJPW come together once again to present their Forbidden Door PPV from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Ahead of the bout, there had been speculation regarding CM Punk facing KENTA at the show, although Fightful Select reported earlier today that this is no longer the plan.
Fightful Select have now provided an additional update on the prospect of Punk still featuring on the show, revealing that three names have been pitched internally, whilst there’s also a possibility that Punk will simply be a part of the broadcast.
“Satoshi Kohima, El Phantasmo and Jeff Cobb have all been pitched internally, as well as simply having Punk be a part of the broadcast.”

As of writing, it’s unclear as to whether Punk is still set to compete on the show this Sunday, although with the Chicago native expected to feature on tonight’s Dynamite, it’s unlikely to be long before the situation becomes clearer.
Elsewhere on the card, Kenny Omega is set to defend the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship against Will Ospreay in a rematch of their Wrestle Kingdom 17 classic, whilst Kazuchika Okada will face Bryan Danielson in a dream match for the ages.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on CM Punk’s Forbidden Door plans as soon as we hear more.
