The controversial ex-AEW stars first day back at WWE seems to have gone down well with all involved.

Last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW saw CM Punk address the WWE Universe following his shocking return to the company at Survivor Series, bringing an end to his almost ten year absence from the promotion. Immediately following his arrival, fans began speculating about the potential reactions from talent backstage, although it now appears as though this has been overwhelmingly positive thus far.

During his return promo, Punk stated that reception backstage was “all love” and “everybody back there is happy to see me,” likening it to a family reunion. PWTorch are now reporting that this absolutely was the case, although one talent noted that they believe this was out of necessity on Punk’s part.

“PWTorch sources say that is absolutely accurate. Punk, according to multiple accounts, tried to approach everybody and was “very nice” and “humble” and “in a good mood.” One wrestler added, “But he knew he kinda had to be.” Considering the things Punk said about WWE after he left and the fact that he was fired from the last company for a backstage fight, he had a reputation to deal with.”

According to one talent per the report, Punk “seemed humble,” whilst another claimed that he “seemed pretty positive all around, but we’ll see in a couple months if it sticks.”

Upon asking whether talent are sceptical of Punk’s initial friendliness, PWTorch claims that one wrestler said yes and estimated about half of wrestlers are iffy about whether this is sustainable or who he actually is.

Punk stated during his return promo that he’d “changed,” and thus, at least for now, it appears as though he’s on the right track to maintaining WWE’s harmonious backstage atmosphere.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on CM Punk’s WWE return and the subsequent backstage reaction as soon as we hear more.
