Roman Reigns is reportedly not scheduled for 2024’s Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event.
As it stands, the WWE certainly aren’t short of challengers when it comes to the Undisputed Universal Championship. Roman Reigns’ title defence for the Royal Rumble is set, but there remains a debate about who should stand across the ring from The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 40. Most fans were gearing up for Cody Rhodes to launch another bid for the gold on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but the recent return of The Rock has cast doubt over what the main event should be on April 7.
It had been suggested by many that a way to get around this would’ve be to have The Rock challenge Roman Reigns at February 24’s Elimination Chamber show, happening at the Optus Stadium in Australia. However, as written by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that Reigns isn’t currently scheduled to be at the PLE in Perth.
“Regarding the Reigns vs. Rock match, while I presume it’s WrestleMania (and could possibly be a three-way with Rhodes but I don’t think that will come out until many weeks from now), what we did have confirmed is the Australia rumors aren’t accurate. Reigns is not even scheduled for the show. He’s never been advertised and there are no plans for him for that date right now”
-Dave Meltzer
This would suggest that, barring unlikely TV defences, Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Title won’t be on the line between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. As such, WWE still have a decision to make with regards to the WrestleMania main event, with many fans being split as to whether they would rather Cody Rhodes or The Rock be given the closing spot in Philadelphia.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Roman Reigns’ and the plans for his title reign as soon as we we hear more.
