Initial reports of Okada’s AEW salary are reportedly believed to be inaccurate.
On this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Kazuchika Okada made his first appearance as an official member of the All Elite Wrestling roster. The Rainmaker was a highly sought after commodity in the wrestling world and so the 36-year-old signing with AEW was a huge get for Tony Khan, and there have recently been reports suggesting that he joined the company on $4.5 million dollars a year.
However, per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s said that the supposed figures involved in Okada’s contract are inaccurate. Meltzer states that, while The Rainmaker did sign for a large sum of money, it’s considerably lower than initial reports suggested.
“Okada signed a three-year deal. Tokyo Sports reported Okada signed a three-year deal at 2 billion yen ($13.5 million) over the course of the period of the contract, or an average of $4.5 million annually, but that number is not accurate at all. The real number is considerably lower, but it was still a very large number that he signed for.”

No matter the finances, it’s certain that Okada will be a huge star in AEW. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion made his first appearance as a full time roster member by siding with The Young Bucks and making his intentions clear that he will be going after Eddie Kingston’s Continental Crown in the coming weeks.
