Shawn Michaels Praises The Undertaker’s Work In AAA

Shawn Michaels is a fan of The Undertaker’s work with AAA.

On April 19, 2025, WWE announced that they had acquired Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, officially bringing the Mexican promotion under the WWE banner. In August, reports claimed that The Undertaker was “one of the big driving forces behind” AAA, where he now serves as a writer and executive producer.

Speaking to Adrian Hernandez on Unlikely, Shawn Michaels discussed how he felt The Undertaker was doing in the role and whether it was something he expected him to take on. Michaels noted that he wasn’t surprised by how well his former rival is doing, but joked that the lucha libre style is quite the juxtaposition from his own in-ring career.

“We joke about that quite a bit of here’s this unbelievably stoic figure in his WWE career, and he’s out there with the luchadores and everything else going 100 miles an hour. So poetic and he’s doing a fantastic job, and that’s no surprise. He’s the man in so many ways. He’s incredibly bright and of course, once he started coming around the Performance Center and jumping into LFG, much like myself, that love, that itch comes back and it makes you want to be able to give back. So he’s, no surprise, doing a fantastic job with AAA. But it is sort of ironic that of all people, the man who was The Undertaker, out there having the Lucha Libre style being his trademark going forward in his career.”

The April 11 edition of AAA on FOX saw Penta successfully defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against former AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo ahead of WrestleMania 42.

This past weekend also saw La Catalina make her Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide debut, becoming the first talent to make the jump from CMLL to AAA since WWE’s acquisition of the promotion. Following her arrival, AAA shared a behind-the-scenes look at their latest addition posing for photos with The Undertaker.

Elsewhere during the interview, Shawn Michaels revealed that the only reason he still attends WrestleMania is to watch former NXT talent compete. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on The Undertaker’s involvement with AAA as soon as we hear more.
