Jim Ross Thinks Aleister Black Hasn’t Burned His Bridge With AEW

Jim Ross on AEW return is still viable for Aleister Black.
Last Friday, April 24, Aleister Black was among those who departed WWE as part of the latest round of talent cuts. With many immediately wondering whether he could return to AEW and join Andrade in having two distinct runs in both of America’s top promotions, it emerged earlier this week that people in AEW were ‘pretty negative’ on Black, making a comeback sound unlikely. However, legendary commentator Jim Ross doesn’t think the door back to AEW is closed for the former Trios Champion.
Speaking on Grilling JR, Ross said he doesn’t think Black has burned his bridge with AEW, though he thinks the star’s chances are running out.
“No, I do not. But I think that his chances are running out. Trust is a big thing, man. I said this many times… reliability. Are you reliable?nThere is, I’m sure, a small faction of some in the wrestling business that believe he’s missing something. And I say that I don’t disagree with that. He’s not missing his attire, his look, his work ethic. So whatever his downfalls are, they seem to be stimulated from things outside bell-to-bell. But I like the guy. I’d hire him in a heartbeat.”

Black’s departure was one of the more surprising to learn about on Friday night, not least because he had only returned to the company one year earlier. Both he, and his wife Zelina Vega, will now enter free agency, and we continue to wish all those affected by the releases last weekend the best with their next move. You can find the full list of WWE talent cuts here.
Perhaps the name fans most shocked to read on April 24 was Kairi Sane, as the Japanese star left the company while in the midst of playing a key role in the storyline between Asuka and IYO SKY. However, while the timing of her exit remains questionable, a recent report indicated why she may have been let go. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Aleister Black’s future as soon as we hear more.
