WWE Reportedly Happy With Celebrity Involvement At WrestleMania 42

WWE’s use of celebrities isn’t expected to stop anytime soon.
WrestleMania 42 saw a number of celebrities involved in the action at Allegiant Stadium. Night One on April 18 saw IShowSpeed land an impressive frog splash through the announce table after teaming with The Vision in a defeat to LA Knight and The Usos, whilst the main event between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton saw both Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll heavily featured. Night Two continued with Lil Yachty alongside Trick Williams as he defeated Sami Zayn to capture the WWE United States Championship, and it now appears as though WWE were pleased with the celebrity involvement across both nights.
Despite facing criticism from fans in the build-up to WrestleMania 42, Fightful Select are now reporting that WWE were pleased with the celebrity involvement at the event, with additional plans in place for further appearances in the future.
“WWE sources told Fightful Select that they were extremely happy with all the celebrity performances. In addition, we’re told that they won’t be stopping any time soon. It was reiterated that the involvement will slow down after WrestleMania season as one would expect, but that there are still plans for additional celebrities to be worked into WWE programming in the future, including this Summer. No names were given.”

The report additionally notes that Tom Brady was at least contacted about appearing at WrestleMania 42, although it was not made clear why that did not come to fruition.
Following Randy Orton’s failure to dethrone Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship during Night One of WrestleMania 42, Pat McAfee has vowed that his involvement with professional wrestling has come to an end.
Original plans reportedly called for Pat McAfee to team with what would have been a newly crowned Undisputed WWE Champion Randy Orton at Backlash on May 9 to face Cody Rhodes and Jelly Roll, however those plans are said to have changed after McAfee withdrew from the angle following heavy criticism from both the WWE Universe and the locker room. You can read more about that here.
Meanwhile, Lil Yachty continues to feature on Friday Night SmackDown alongside the new WWE United States Champion Trick Williams, with Sami Zayn setting his sights on recapturing the title.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for celebrity involvement in WWE as soon as we hear more.
