Paul Wight Names Kenny Omega And Darby Allin As AEW Dream Opponents

Paul Wight has given two names he’d love to face in AEW.
In recent years, Paul Wight has had to undergo numerous surgeries which have kept him from competing in the ring. This has included procedures to replace both his knees and both his hips as he looks live a more comfortable life going forward. However, in a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Wight revealed he stills feels he has one last run left in him as a wrestler, and the 54-year-old has now discussed two dream opponents for him in AEW.
Speaking with Simon Miller on Under The Mat, Paul Wight said he’d like to work with Kenny Omega and Darby Allin.
“When I look at our AEW roster, even though he’s not a younger cat, he’s still somebody that I’ve had respect for a long time. Kenny Omega. Kenny is one I would think like, ‘Man, I would love to either tag with Kenny or to compete against Kenny’. I would love to have a great heel run and work Darby cause I could sling Darby’s guts all over the place. Even the old school one where I slammed Rey [Mysterio] into the ring post when he was tied to the stretcher. I can only imagine the carnage I could do with Darby.”

Having first signed with the promotion in 2021, Paul Wight has had six matches during his AEW career, though his last match actually came during the Jericho Cruise in early 2024, meaning it’s been over two years since he last stepped between the ropes to compete. As yet, it’s unclear when Wight will return to the ring, though the star has dropped weight to accommodate a wrestling comeback.
In terms of his last Dynamite outing, fans may remember the ‘Like A Dragon’ Street Fight in which Wight teamed with Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Kota Ibushi to battle the Don Callis Family in November 2023.
