A ‘Pretty Majorly Pushed’ WWE Talent Reportedly Took A 50% Pay Cut

A top WWE Superstar has reportedly taken a 50% pay cut.
On Saturday, May 2, eagle-eyed fans spotted that a number of WWE Superstars had been moved to the company’s alumni section, including Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, who were later reported to have mutually decided to depart WWE, with it subsequently claimed that the pair chose to leave after receiving TKO’s latest contract offer.
Whilst addressing the direction of WWE under TKO’s ownership, Mike Johnson of PWInsider revealed that, one day prior to The New Day’s departure, he had been told of a “majorly pushed talent” who was asked to take a 50% pay cut and accepted.
“This past Friday, the day before Kingston and Woods were moved to the Alumni section of the WWE website without even a “Hey, thanks for all you did for this company” publicly, PWInsider.com was told of a pretty majorly pushed talent who was asked to take a 50% pay cut, and allegedly did. I’m not naming the talent because I have no way, yet, to confirm this was the case, but the timing of that claim and what happened the very next day was very, very interesting, to say the least.”

Following the report, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select took to X to add that a number of talents were asked to take pay cuts by WWE, although it was not specified which names he was referring to.
Alongside The New Day, both Tonga Loa and JC Mateo were also reported to have left WWE on May 2. However, the nature of the pair’s departures has yet to be confirmed. You can read more about that here.
The aforementioned departures follow the April 24 round of WWE releases, with the likes of Kairi Sane, The Motor City Machine Guns, Aleister Black, and others now set to become free agents when their non-compete clauses expire. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on TKO seeking to restructure the contracts of several WWE Superstars as soon as we hear more.
