Thekla On Surpassing GUNTHER: That’s A Tight Race

AEW’s Thekla and WWE’s GUNTHER are proudly representing Austria inside the ring
Earlier this month, AEW Women’s World Championship holder Thekla reflected on both herself and former World Heavyweight Championship holder GUNTHER finding success in professional wrestling out of Vienna, Austria for All Elite Wrestling and WWE respectively.
Appearing on The Sal Licata Show ahead of AEW Double or Nothing, Thekla was asked whether she feels she has surpassed GUNTHER as the greatest Austrian-born professional wrestler.
“Thats’s a tight race, I’m gonna say. I usually do put myself on the number one spot. But I’m glad he’s a guy, I’m a girl, we don’t have to actually race for that spot. But I think he can do sh*t that I can’t do, and vice versa. Let’s put it that way.”

Thekla is set to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against a trio of former champions, as Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, and Hikaru Shida all look to dethrone ‘The Toxic Spider’ at AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday, May 24 at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.
Meanwhile, after moving from Monday Night RAW to Friday Night SmackDown, GUNTHER will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash in Italy at Inalpi Arena in Turin on May 31.
