Leon Slater Reportedly Expected To Join WWE Or AEW When His TNA Deal Ends

Leon Slater could be heading to WWE or AEW when his TNA Wrestling contract expires.

Cedric Alexander defeated Leon Slater to capture the TNA X-Division Championship in a 2/3 falls match during the May 14 episode of TNA Impact. Had Slater retained the title, he would have surpassed Austin Aries’s record as the longest reigning X-Division Champion in TNA Wrestling history, with many fans surprised that the company opted not to allow the young Englishman to break the record.

Regarding the title change, Dave Meltzer revealed in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Leon Slater is believed to be leaving TNA Wrestling for either WWE or All Elite Wrestling when his deal expires, thus explaining the decision to allow him not to break the record.

“A lot of people were mad about them not letting him break the record but the belief is Slater is gone to WWE or AEW when his contract is up.”

Leon Slater has made a handful of appearances for WWE through the company’s partnership with TNA Wrestling, most notably teaming with fellow rising star Je’Von Evans at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, 2025, an event that would see John Cena bring his legendary career to an end later that night.

Whilst AJ Styles recently claimed that it is “only a matter of time” before Leon Slater joins WWE, it remains to be seen whether All Elite Wrestling will also make a play for his signature when he enters free agency.
