Chaf Gable receives the highest of praise from a WWE Hall of Famer.

AAA’s Noche de Los Grandes on May 30 saw ‘The Original’ El Grande Americano take on El Grande Americano in a mask vs. mask match that ultimately saw ‘The Original’ bested before he removed his mask and revealed himself to be Chad Gable. The bout drew widespread praise throughout the wrestling world, with Gable undoubtedly earning the respect of the crowd in Monterrey despite the loss.

Alongside the AAA faithful, JBL has been mightily impressed with Chad Gable’s spell in Mexico and noted on Busted Open that he believes the now-former ‘The Original’ El Grande Americano is the best wrestler in the world today.

“When Chad first came back, we’re sitting there thinking about it. It’s easy to be a campy heel like he was in WWE with the videos with the varsity club or whatever the heck it was. But then all of a sudden to try to get heat down in Mexico, that’s a different level. That’s not even the same business. And he had a match down there with La Parka that was just phenomenal. I think Chad Gable is the best wrestler in the world, and I don’t think it’s close. That was absolutely amazing what he and Kaiser did.”

Following the massive success of the bout between the two men claiming to be El Grande Americano, WWE aired the match once again on Netflix immediately after the June 1 edition of Monday Night RAW.

After what many believe to be a Match of the Year contender, Chad Gable vowed that he would return to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide someday. However, it remains unclear what lies ahead in his immediate future now that his days competing under a mask as ‘The Original’ El Grande Americano are behind him.
