JBL thinks El Grande Americano should stay in America.

At this past weekend’s Noche de Los Grandes, we witnessed the culmination of the feud with the two iterations of El Grande Americano in a mask vs. mask match. The rivalry itself became the hottest program in AAA and one of the most talked about things across the wrestling landscape as a whole. However, while Mexican crowds couldn’t get enough of their feud, the pair of Americanos often couldn’t get anything similar from those attending Monday Night RAW across the USA. Now, a former WWE Champion has said El Grande Americano should remain in Mexico.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, JBL said El Grande Americano should stick with AAA rather than returning to WWE, noting he thinks the Mexican promotion will land a new TV deal.

“I want him to stay in Mexico. There’s no doubt about it to me. It’s hard to get over. It’s hard to get over anywhere. If guys can get over anywhere, I don’t care if it’s Tennessee, Japan, Puerto Rico, Mexico, it doesn’t matter. If you can get over, that’s tough to do. He is the biggest star in Mexico right now, and that is amazing. I would ride this AAA wave. I don’t know what they’re coming for next. I don’t have any insight about this so I’m not giving away anything from meetings or anything. But I think they’re gonna get a pretty good TV deal coming up. They got a good TV Fox deal down from Mexico down south, all the way down to South America. I think they’ll get another TV deal. And what would you want to be? You want to be the biggest star on this new deal and be one of the reasons that they brought it to you? I think that’s an opportunity that’s just too good to pass up. I would stay down in Mexico… He can make a fortune down in Mexico. Some from wrestling, a lot from opportunities down there. They have adopted that man and my advice would be to stay where it’s good.”

With the current El Grande Americano coming out on top against the Original El Grande Americano in the main event of Saturday’s show, the losing star revealed himself to be Chad Gable. After having to unmask, Gable had to state his name and where he was from while still covered in blood in the aftermath of the match.

Gable now likely had back to RAW to try to find his footing on the red brand, though his stock has certainly been raised while playing the El Grande Americano character. On that note, JBL recently declared Chad Gable the best wrestler in the world off the back of his recent run. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on El Grande Americano as soon as we hear more.
