El Hijo Del Vikingo Reportedly Dealing With A Knee Injury

Vikingo’s WWE NXT absence was due to an injury to his left knee.
The June 30 edition of WWE NXT was originally set to see El Hijo del Vikingo defend the AAA Latin American Championship against EK Prosper. However, Vikingo was taken out backstage by Keanu Carver at the start of the show, with the reason for the match being pulled now clear.
After Cory Hays revealed shortly after Tuesday’s episode of NXT that Vikingo had suffered an injury while preparing for his match with EK Prosper, False Finish are now reporting that the injury is to Vikingo’s left knee, with the AAA star currently wearing a brace as a result.
“Sources indicate to False Finish that it is a left knee injury. The knee is badly swollen so they are waiting on an MRI to determine how bad the injury is. El Hijo del Vikingo is currently in a brace as a result of the knee injury.”

Due to Vikingo not being cleared to compete, EK Prosper instead faced Keanu Carver on this week’s episode of NXT. After receiving assistance from Tank Ledger, who was seeking revenge on Carver, Prosper picked up the upset victory as his stock continues to rise.
Earlier this week, Fightful Español reported that Rey Fénix vs. El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship was planned for this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown. While the challenger is now sidelined through injury, the match has already been taped and is therefore still expected to air.
