Sheamus Reportedly Set To Leave WWE

Sheamus is set to leave WWE after turning down a contract extension.
Thus far, 2026 has seen a number of major WWE departures, with several talents released as part of a wave of cuts in April, while Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods mutually agreed to part ways with the company shortly afterwards. It now appears another high-profile name has chosen to bring his time with WWE to an end.
According to Fightful Select, Sheamus is set to leave WWE after rejecting a contract offer as the company attempted to restructure his deal, as has been the case with a number of talents in recent months.
“Fightful Select has learned that Sheamus is set to leave WWE after his WWE contract expired. It should be reiterated that Sheamus turned down a contract extension and was not released. We’re told that WWE had approached Sheamus about a restructured contract when he was out with an injury. He swiftly rejected them.”

The report additionally notes that, with Sheamus’ WWE contract set to expire within months of the proposed new deal, there was no need for an immediate release or the standard 90-day non-compete clause.
Sheamus would leave WWE after just under 20 years with the company, departing as a four-time world champion, former Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank and King of the Ring winner, as well as a holder of numerous mid-card and tag team titles across a career that is surely worthy of the Hall of Fame.
Fightful clarified that, at the time of writing, they do not have a specific date for Sheamus’ contract expiry, although they have been told it is approaching.
