Mark Briscoe Reportedly Dealing With An Injury

Mark Briscoe is dealing with a legitimate injury after his AEW World Title match.
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite opened with Mark Briscoe challenging MJF for the AEW World Championship after Briscoe’s team defeated MJF and The Don Callis Family in a steel cage match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 28. Briscoe ultimately fell short, and the following night’s episode of Collision indicated that he had suffered an injury and could be sidelined for some time.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has now provided an update on Briscoe’s status, revealing that the injury is legitimate, although he did not provide any further details.
“Not sure what the injury is, but Mark Briscoe injury is legit. All the best to him.”
-Bryan Alvarez
Following the match on Wednesday, MJF launched a post-match assault on Mark Briscoe, prompting Kenny Omega to hit the ring and make the save before reaffirming his intention to once again challenge for the AEW World Championship.
MJF offered Kenny Omega the opportunity to challenge him for the title at next week’s AEW Dynamite: Beach Break, but only on the condition that he can never challenge for it again should he lose. Omega accepted MJF’s terms by the end of the night, with the match now officially set for next Wednesday.
However, reports have since claimed that while MJF vs. Kenny Omega has been planned for at least three months, the match was originally scheduled to take place at AEW Redemption later this month. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Mark Briscoe’s injury status as soon as we hear more, and we wish him all the best in his recovery.
