Paige On Her Time In AEW: My Heart Wasn’t In It, I’m A WWE Girl

Paige has opened up on feeling like her heart wasn’t with AEW.
At All Elite Wrestling’s Grand Slam 2022, Paige, then known as Saraya, made her debut appearance on Dynamite. During her time with the company’s the Brit notably captured the AEW Women’s World Championship at Wembley Stadium during All In 2024, as well as playing a key role as part of The Outcasts. Now,
Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Paige offered nothing but love for AEW and Tony Khan, but said her heart wasn’t in it there as she’s a ‘WWE girl’.
“I did go to AEW and I did have a great time there, but my heart wasn’t in it. And I feel like you could see that in my performance when I was in the ring there and my character. It was just like, I’m a WWE girl, man. I love WWE. I went there for a couple of years, and then we went our separate ways. It ended really, really great, and I have nothing but love when it comes to AEW and Tony [Khan] and stuff like that. When it comes to WWE, that’s just where I’ve wanted to be forever. I’ve been there since I was 18 years old. I gave my neck for this company. I grew up here. I was a baby.”

The 33-year-old confirmed her AEW departure on March 26, 2025, staying absent from the ring for over a year. However, on the first night of WrestleMania 42, Paige emerged to team with Brie Bella, after Nikki was unable to compete through injury. They went on to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in a four-way match which saw The Irresistible Forces come in as title holders and come out empty-handed.
Keeping the gold around their waists for 91 days, Brie Bella and Paige were unable to successfully defend against Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid at this past weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event. From here, many fans will have their eye on what Paige does next, particularly given she had previously held the one-half of the titles for the entirety of her latest WWE run thus far.
