Triple H Reveals WWE Passed On Bron Breakker Winning The 2026 Royal Rumble

Bron Breakker was almost picked to win the Royal Rumble.

On January 31, Roman Reigns emerged victorious as the 2026 men’s Royal Rumble winner. However, many were left frustrated when the company opted for a multi-time world champion rather than one of their younger talent. In particular, a section of fans were hoping WWE would capitalise on Bron Breakker’s momentum towards the end of 2025 by having him come out on top to earn a championship match. Now, it seems the second-generation star was almost in position to win the Royal Rumble.

During an episode of Season 3 of WWE Unreal released on Netflix on July 21, it was revealed that WWE decided against having Bron Breakker win the 2026 Royal Rumble due to concerns that fans would feel he was being shoved down their throats.

“The risk with Bron Breakker is everything from, can he actually do it? Can he mentally handle it? Will fans accept it? So you have to really be sure. You can make a shocking moment out of it, but I still worry a little bit that it just feels like you’re just shoving him down your throat. I think we just need to think about it a little.”

At just 28 years old, Bron Breakker has already seen success in WWE as a former NXT and Intercontinental Champion. On top of that, the future looked incredibly bright when he aligned with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman on the night after WrestleMania 41 as part of The Vision. Particularly when the group betrayed Rollins in October, Breakker seemed primed to become the promotion’s next breakout star.

However, due to WWE rethinking their creative plans, Breakker is yet to ascend to the main event scene. Today, Bron remains part of The Vision, and is currently one-half of the WWE World Tag Team Champions alongside Austin Theory, though many still have him pegged as a future world champion down the line.
