Tony Khan Believes Excitement For AEW Is At An ‘All-Time High’

Tony Khan feels excitement around AEW is at an all-time high.
All Elite Wrestling has been on a significant upward trend, with many considering 2026 to be one of the company’s strongest years to date. Pay-per-view buy rates have remained consistent, with some events even seeing notable increases compared to previous years, alongside a continued focus on in-ring quality.
AEW Dynamite and Collision have also experienced recent surges in viewership, a trend that Tony Khan highlighted during his appearance on Brian Sozzi’s Power Players.
“I think the excitement right now is at an all-time high, which is evidenced by the viewership because last week was our highest viewership in years on TBS. It was the most since our big Blood and Guts cage match in 2024, — But two years ago, we weren’t streaming on HBO Max yet. So the viewership now, the true viewership, is actually much higher because not only do we have the TBS viewers, but also we have streaming viewership. So in reality, this is the hottest and most viewers we’ve had in a long time, if ever. And it feels like the excitement around AEW today is at an all-time high.“

The July 15 episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 786,000 viewers, up from the 773,000 viewers recorded the previous week, which featured Kenny Omega defeating MJF to capture the AEW Men’s World Championship.
Those figures only account for the cable audience, and according to Dave Meltzer, even with “conservative” HBO Max viewership numbers included, the last two episodes of Dynamite could rank among the most-watched episodes in the show’s history in the United States.
While HBO Max viewership numbers remain unavailable, many, including Dave Meltzer, have noted that the platform is believed to be a key destination for AEW’s younger demographic. Estimates have suggested that each episode receives “at least” a few hundred thousand additional viewers upon debut.
With the build toward AEW Redemption continuing and All In London at Wembley Stadium approaching, it will be interesting to see how AEW’s viewership trends develop moving forward.
