Bayley Potentially Written Off WWE TV Ahead Of Contract Decision
Bayley may have been written off WWE TV with her future up in the air.
Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18 saw Lyra Valkyria defeat her former tag team partner Bayley in singles competition. Following the match, Valkyria delivered a brutal post-match assault on her former ally, and with Bayley reportedly yet to sign a new WWE deal amid ongoing AEW speculation, many fans believe the segment may have been used to write her off television.
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer have since provided further insight into the situation in an exclusive report, suggesting that the attack may indeed be connected to Bayley’s contract status.

“Well, that tells you everything you need to know then. Her deal’s coming up.”

“Well, it’s not coming up for months, but I mean, again, I watched that show on Saturday and watching that show, I thought it was a blowoff. The stuff that Lyra Valkyria has said since makes it sound like a blowoff. Maybe she’s gonna come back in two weeks and attack Lyra and keep the thing going.”

Meltzer went on to compare the situation to WWE’s handling of Ricochet in June 2024, who later joined All Elite Wrestling after his contract expired.
“With Ricochet, he had not signed his new deal, and when he kept not signing his deal, they started assuming he was gone. There were even stories out that he was gone before he decided he was gone. But he was leaning toward being gone, and in the end he was gone. But if you remember that last angle that they did with him, it was done in a way where, if he signed his contract, it was gonna lead to a return based on that angle.”

“I think this is the exact same thing. If [Bayley] ends up re-signing, then there’s a built-in angle with Lyra. And if she doesn’t re-sign, Lyra destroyed her and sent her out of the company. So I think that’s exactly what’s going on.”

If that is indeed the case, fans would not see Bayley on WWE television for several months until her contract expires. Many within the wrestling community expect Bayley to eventually make the move to AEW, especially with her close friend and fellow Four Horsewoman Mercedes Moné seemingly trying to “lure her” to the promotion, including sharing an Instagram post featuring a fan-made match graphic for the two at AEW WrestleDream in October.
However, as Meltzer and Alvarez noted, it is also entirely possible that Bayley could re-sign with WWE. Everything remains speculation until an official decision is made.
