Mike Santana Reveals ‘Cruz Montana’ As New WWE Ring Name

Mike Santana will now be known as Cruz Montana after signing with WWE.
Earlier today, it was revealed that WWE filed a trademark for the name ‘Cruz Montana’ on July 24, 2026, with the application currently pending examination by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The filing falls under the category of “Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler,” indicating that the name is likely intended for use by an incoming WWE talent.
Following intense speculation that the trademark was intended for recent WWE signing Mike Santana, the former TNA World Champion took to X to confirm that Cruz Montana will indeed be his new ring name. Santana also explained the meaning behind the name and why he chose it for the next chapter of his career.
“CRUZ MONTANA
A name I put together as a tribute to honor my late father. Who I’ve always made sure to keep as close as possible to my journey.
Losing him 6 years ago, is what sent me on the spiral that I’d eventually rise from, to become the man you see today. And today, that man ADDICTED TO GREATNESS.
Here’s to this next chapter.
-Cruz Montana
LETS GET IT! 👑🇵🇷”
Despite Santana having previously appeared on WWE NXT through the company’s working relationship with TNA Wrestling, Vic Joseph and Booker T notably did not mention the new arrival by name on commentary, with WWE’s social media channels also avoiding doing so.
Cruz Montana appeared in the crowd following Tony D’Angelo’s successful NXT Championship defence against NARAKU on July 21, suggesting it may not be long before the former TNA star begins pursuing singles gold once again.
