Brie Bella Reflects On Her WWE SummerSlam Match Nearly Being Stopped Due To Injury

Brie Bella reflected on her match nearly being called off at SummerSlam due to her injury.
At SummerSlam this past weekend, Brie Bella suffered a scapula injury after taking a cannonball against the steel steps from Jacy Jane during a six-woman tag match that immediately took her out of action. Fatal Influende would go on to win the match after Jayne pinned Paige for the victory and following the match, Nikki Bella would turn heel with an attack on Paige, a beatdown that Brie couldn’t fully involve herself in due to the injury.
On the latest Hi, My Name Is Brie! vlog, Brie spoke about the moment she felt the injury happen and how people at ringside were telling her they wanted to stop the match due to getting hurt. Despite the setback, Brie was still set on trying to get the hot tag and finishing up the match against Fatal Attraction.
“I don’t know if it’s because we’re people pleasers, but the whole time in my head I’m like, ‘No, I got to stay in so Nikki can get the hot tag.’ They were telling me, ‘Stay down.’ Or they were thinking about calling the match. I’m like, ‘No, no, no.’ Even though I was in crazy pain, all I could think about was, ‘Nikki’s got to hit that comeback.’”

In an Instagram post before the vlog was posted, Brie spoke about how she was driven to finish the match because of the adrenaline and passion she has for the business and how the love for all the women she works with got her to the end of the match.
“Not sure how I finished that match, but I do believe between the adrenaline, passion for the business and the love for all the women I work with, it gave me the drive to finish.”

During the shocking post-match beatdown, Paige was outnumbered against Nikki and Brie. As such, many fans theorised that the Brit could call on AJ Lee to take the fight to the Bellas down the line, although it’s currently unclear as to whether Brie’s injury has scuppered any creative plans, or if this was even the direction WWE were headed.
The injury she sustained could take 6-12 weeks to heal and that does not include the rehab process that she will be going through once the healing process is complete. Of course, we wish Brie Bella all the best with regard to her recovery and look forward to seeing her back as soon as she’s medically cleared.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Brie Bella’s injury status as soon as we hear more.
