Darby Allin Has No Regrets About AEW World Title Run

Darby Allin wouldn’t change a thing about his AEW World Championship reign.

AEW has seen plenty of movement in its world title scene this year, with multiple reigns taking place in a relatively short period of time. MJF entered 2026 as champion before losing the title to Darby Allin at Spring Break Thru. Darby’s 39-day reign remains one of the most memorable title runs of the year, largely due to how he defended the belt every week, refusing to slow down until MJF defeated him again at Double or Nothing.

Despite losing the title, Darby noted on The Mark Hoke Show that he wouldn’t change anything about his reign.

“I have no regrets with that. I was burning the candle at both ends, but I have no regrets at all because you live by the sword, you die by the sword. So a short and sweet championship run, that’s my motto in life. You just got to bring it, man. But I honestly have no regrets. I would not change a single thing.”

This speaks very much to the nature of Darby Allin as a wrestler, as he gives 100% every time he steps into the ring, regardless of the match or who he’s facing. That style was inspired by many wrestlers who came before him, including Mick Foley. You can read more about that here.

Looking ahead, Darby is currently feuding with TNT Champion Kevin Knight and has even challenged “The Jet” to a Falls Count Anywhere match at All In: London later this week. Before that, however, Knight will face Chris Jericho on AEW Dynamite tomorrow, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
