Kyle Fletcher Comments On The Passion Ilja Dragonov Has In The Ring

Kyle Fletcher is open to a rematch with Ilja Dragunov in an AEW ring.
Since Ilja Dragunov’s surprising exit from WWE last week, many fans have been linking him with a possible move to AEW. Feeding into that, certain AEW wrestlers have recently posted pictures of themselves with Dragunov, as names including Tommaso Ciampa and Kyle Fletcher reflect on past matches with the former United States Champion. “The Protostar” last had a match with Dragonov in 2019, and has now discussed his openness to wrestle him in future.
Talking to The Sportster, Fletcher noted that Ilja brings a passion to the ring that he would love to experience again.
“Look, it feels way too early to speculate. For me, I think Ilja is incredible. He brings this raw passion that you don’t get very often in pro wrestling. It’s something that I feel I have now gotten to a point where when I’m in the ring, I feel that passion. And when I get in there with someone else who has that same passion for pro wrestling, that’s where magic happens. There’s been many people I’ve gotten in the ring that I have that feeling, and I know that Ilja is one of those people. And the thought of another match between us after everything that’s happened excites me very much.”

For now, there’s been no official word on whether Ilja Dragunov will become “All Elite”. However, after reports emerged suggested WWE made the decision to stop using him in April, he may well follow names like Toni Storm, Swerve Strickland, Tommaso Ciampa, and more who found a new lease of life in AEW.
Plus, Fletcher isn’t the only ones praising Dragonov for this talent and ability, as Tony Khan also noted he’d be “on the lookout” for what’s going on with him, which you can read about here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Ilja Dragunov as soon as we hear more.
